Fri Classwork- GMO Pamphlet

Create a pamphlet that provides information on genetically modified foods.

Your pamphlet should:

  • include a list of at least 5 GMO facts (what they are, how they're modified, examples of)
  • at least 3 reasons people support GMO
  • at least 3 reasons people oppose GMO 
  • your opinion 
Include the URL of the websites you used.

Make sure you pull your facts and statistics from non-biased websites. Even the pro/con reasons should be from objective sources. You should be spending as much time analyzing the site you are using as you are spending finding facts.

Classwork: Gene Therapy

Read, research, and then write a one page story about gene therapy. Your story should be for a middle school audience.

Highlight (bold) and explain the following vocabulary in your story: gene, chromosome, DNA, protein, genetic disorder.

Include 2 relevant pictures in your article.

Consider your audience- you should make sure you explain genetics concepts (genes, chromosomes, etc.) What is gene therapy? How does gene therapy work? What disorders have been treated with gene therapy? What disorders do we hope to treat with gene therapy?
